Divine Details

Linen Love

Spencer Special Events - Tuesday, June 30, 2015

Our client's favorite meeting with us by far always seems to be design day! We would be lying if we said it wasn't ours also! The details are really a favorite from the perfect flower combos to the most lovely color schemes. But it is the endless linen options that truly make our hearts skip a beat.

From a fun cocktail hour pattern to a sweet lace overlay or a touch of glam for some reception sparkle; linen options are key to tying together a beautifully personalized wedding. During the design meeting we pull together an assortment of lovely linen to share the beautiful detail custom linen you can add to your big day.

We hope you enjoyed a little linen love for your celebration!

Summer Cocktail Mix Up

Spencer Special Events - Tuesday, June 23, 2015

With the warm summer months upon us, it's no doubt we all have delicious, refreshing cocktails on the brain. With so many flavors and combo of spirits to choose from it can be very hard to pick your concoction for your big day. So here is a round up of trending summer cocktails and some favorite choices here at SSE.

Cheers!

It's no shock that mint juleps are a hit down here in the south, but we love this twist on the Southern Classic.

The Whiskey Smash

2oz Whiskey

1oz Simple syrup

1/2oz Lemon juice

A handful of mint

Moscow Mules are a favorite on the cocktail list these days, but when it comes to Ginger beer we are enjoying it a little more on the tropical side.

Dark and Stormy

2oz Dark rum

3oz Ginger beer

1/2 oz Lime juice

Ice and a lime slice for garnish

It would not be a cocktail mix up if we didn't include a Champagne cocktail. What better way to mix it up then with Saint Germain and Grapefruit.

Grapefruit-Elderflower Sparkler

1 1/2 oz Grapefruit juice

1oz St-Germain elderflower liquer

Fill with Champagne or sparkling wine

Garnish with a grapefruit twist

Summer and pineapple juice go hand and hand. Below is a new favorite vodka drink. It doesn't hurt that the pretty blush color almost makes it too pretty to drink.

Frenchy Cocktail

1 1/2 oz Pear Vodka

3 oz Pineapple Juice

1 oz Cranberry Juice

Before you leave the details to us...

Spencer Special Events - Saturday, June 06, 2015

Here at Spencer Special Events we LOVE to make your experience as easy and effortless as possible by taking some of those overwhelming tasks and details off your plate. I'm sure that leaves you wondering what you and your Groom-to-be need to get done and where do we start!

Before you can leave the details to us, here is a quick list to help you prepare for what to expect in the next exciting year ahead. For a full detailed timeline of your wedding year, please feel free to contact us for a welcome to the Spencer Special Events family wedding guide!

Here are a few key tips to creating the perfect guest database.

Most online wedding websites have free templates for guest lists for those of us that are not excel experts. Most importantly, you want to make sure all guests are in alphabetical order and their names are spelled correctly. You can use an excel spreadsheet to keep everything organized. Just make sure to include tabs for the following:

Guest household info:

- Address

- RSVPs

- Table assignments

- Menu Selections

- How many attending from the household

- Accommodations

Once the tabs are created you can have all this important info in one spot. That way when vendors are in need of guest lists and table arrangements, or even addresses for the invites, you can easily access and copy into a new list.

Here are a few lists that will be asked for before the big day:

- Alphabetical Guest List

- Seating arrangements, typically in list format with the table as the header and guests listed below. Or a floor plan with guests listed at each table.

- Alphabetical Guest List with table numbers listed as well as what each guest is having for dinner if the choice entree is the route you have decided to go!

- Don't forget to let us know where your guests plan to stay while visiting for your destination wedding! This will help us double check the room blocks and with delivering of welcome gifts!

All items above help SSE to stay organized while executing the wedding day of your dreams. Once those pesky lists are finished, you can sit back, relax, and leave the details to us!

We can't wait to get organizing with you soon!

Your Perfect Wedding Website

Spencer Special Events - Wednesday, April 01, 2015

You're engaged! Welcome to one of the most exciting times for you and your family. After all the excitement, the well wishes, and many glasses of champagne the reality sets in that the planning must begin! Though sometimes this can seem like a very overwhelming task don't you fret we are here to help! One of the first steps on your list of to-do's should be a wedding website. This is a wonderful way to spread the wonderful news to your family and friends without having to pick up the phone or start the email chain.

Here's a guide on what to include in your wedding website as well as some of our favorite sties.

When designing your site don't feel like you can't get started because you have yet to pick the theme or colors of your wedding. Your website is a fun way to break away from the mold and do something a little different. In no way does it need to reflect the same theme as the wedding itself.

Today you no longer need to be marrying a graphic designer to create a trendy site filled with all the essentials.

The story of your love: Share the story of how you met as well as the engagement! We sure are a sucker for these great love stories!

A Bridal party Who's Who: Give a little detail on your BFFs or family involved in the big day.

All the Details: Tell folks when and where you'll wed. Where to stay and the events planned around the big day!

Registry Guidance: The shops and sites you have registered for gifts.

Guest Book: So friends and family can leave you well wishes.

Below are a few of our favorite easy to use sites, whether you want to pay a monthly fee for this year's hottest website layouts or go the simple route with a free subscription and layout. The below sites have it all (as you can see from the images above) and are very user friendly. Happy Engagement!

It's All In The Details

Spencer Special Events - Sunday, March 08, 2015

I'm sure it comes as no surprise that we here at SSE die for the perfect wedding details. It's an arrangement of flowers that are so pretty it could make you squeal. Or a signature cocktail so sweet you feel the love. Maybe even wedding signage so lovely that it ties every last aspect of the theme together. Whatever the personal touches may be, we love them all. It's a fantastic way to show wedding guests your style and personality. And let's face it "It's all in the details".

So here is a round up of some truly amazing detail moments to hopefully spark some inspiration for you fellow detail lovers.

We can't wait to see what the future holds for us and our love affair with the details this season!

New Years Eve Ideas!

Spencer Special Events - Wednesday, December 24, 2014

Eeek! We can hardly believe Christmas is upon us. Our little ones are running round excitedly and SANTA is all they can think about. Soon enough, we will throw the boxes and wrapping paper away, we will desperately try to find room for all the toys and goodies we are so fortunate to receive, and it will all be over. In typical event planning fashion (it's in our blood, you see!) it will be time to think of what's next: New Years Eve! Though for most of us at Spencer Special Events, gone are the days when we dance on tables and party into the night to bring in the new year, but we are still known to pop some bubbly and celebrate in style!

Here's our 2014 New Years Eve Style Guide! From Kate Spade rings, bracelets, bangles, invitations, shoes, and a fancy Champagne bucket, to a stunning Tory Burch dress, the perfect champagne hostess gift bag, and a retro instant camera, here are some ideas to make your new years eve sparkle. (Don't forget festive touches to your drinks!)

Happy New Year from all of us at Spencer Special Events! We know 2015 is going to be blessed thanks to all of our wonderful families, friends and vendor friends!

Meet Annie!

Spencer Special Events - Wednesday, December 10, 2014

As we've said before, Spencer Special Events is comprised of a team of individuals and a strong team at that. Today we'd like you to meet our darling Annie who has been with us for over 4 years assisting plan, but mostly help execute, dozens of our weddings.  Annie brings a sparkle to any wedding day. Brides and their maids love her calming energy and grooms love her wit and charm.  She just seems to put everyone at ease.  We sat down with her to hear about her favorite parts of a wedding day and about what's in store for this 2014 USC Graduate.

How did you get interested in wedding planning & coordination? I think it's something I have always been drawn to. I vividly remember being a flower girl when I was 3 and the whole wedding being so beautiful and exciting!  I reached out to Amanda the summer before heading off to college, asking if she needed any help so I could gain some experience and to see if wedding planning was something I enjoyed. Thankfully the timing was right and I met her and Lindsay at Starbucks (loved them right away) and then I started working that summer and on breaks.

What do you like about working with brides/grooms on their wedding day? I love the emotions of the Bride and Groom on their wedding day. It is great to see how excited and happy the bride and groom are to start their new life together. Usually the Groom is anxious to see his Bride and wants to make sure everything is perfect. I like seeing the Bride being surrounded by her family and friends as they get ready and share memories. It is a very sentimental time and I love to be part of their big day!

What's your favorite part of the wedding? I love it all! I love how beautiful weddings are. I love the decor aspect and how you can customize each wedding to really reflect the couples style. I love seeing all of the guests and family come together to celebrate. Weddings are filled with happiness and working weddings is very rewarding and a constant reminder of how special life is.

Here she is with some friends upon graduation. Aren't they adorable?

After graduation this Winter, Annie is off to New Zealand and Australia for 2 months! (Ah! We are so envious!)  She's incredibly grateful for the opportunity and very enthusiastic about exploring.  When she returns, we are excited to have her back to help coordinate our spring affairs!

Congratulations Annie, We love you!!
